About us
The Yokohama International Swimming Pool opened in July 1998 as a sports complex with a seating capacity of 4,000.
It was the venue for the 53rd National Sports Festival of Japan (dubbed Kanagawa Yume Kokutai) held that same year, followed by the 4 international level competitions including the 9th Pan Pacific Swimming Championships of Yokohama 2002, the 11th FINA Synchronized Swimming World Cup 2006, and so on.
The pool is used for various swimming events, from international level competitions to public swim meets where participants can show how far their hard work has taken them.
It is used for training athletes and instructors, too.
The facility also offers health promotion and wellness classes for the general public, and opportunity to bring the community together and much more.
Also the facility was selected as the home arena of the professional basketball team, the Yokohama B-Corsairs, which belongs to the Japan’s premier professional basketball league launched in September 2016.
Moreover, it was decided that the British Olympic team (TEAM GB) use the pool for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020’s pre-game training camps.
The facility will keep developing as a place to watch, engage in, and support sports and the favorite place for the citizens, going down in history.
